News would be if there was Extreme cold, dry air blanketing the nation during August. Why is this a frontpage headline?

ST. LOUIS -- Hot, humid air is blanketing wide areas of the nation this week, and Missouri health experts have been urging people to stay in air-conditioned buildings and take it easy.

Temperatures in much of Missouri are expected to reach well into the upper 90s - and in many cases above 100 degrees - through much of this week. The heat index, calculated from a combination of temperature and humidity, is predicted to climb above 105.

Highs in the 90s were expected from the western Plains to the East Coast.

No shit! They may as well report the wide prevalence of cancer causing sunlight between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m. "But everyone must be aware that that's not the worst of it," said scientist Dr. Wilber F. Orce. "This period of light will be followed by a very hazardous period of darkness. Driving may be difficult. And it looks like there's no end in sight to this trend."
