I was on hold with the IRS today for about 15 minutes.
They have a system where the voices for prompting, and to tell you that the help desk is still busy, is at about level 3 out of 10. Then the on hold music snaps on at about level 9.
The music for the IRS? An endless loop of the theme from the Nutcracker. Of course.
