Rip it OUT!
Dave and I are headed over to my Lake Chelan house tomorrow to rip out all the carpeting on the main floor and the stairway. In the first photograph, below, you will see the ostensible reason for this.
The picture shows the result of a game of cat and mouse pursued by Bill and me. In fact it was more a game of Ox and Nun. But the result was two gallons of paint, paint that doesn't appear to match the carpeting, cascading from floor 2 to floor 1. Gravity was not our friend that evening. (Neither, it appears, was gin.)
The choice was to paint all the carpeting blue and white, or to rip it out. I, perhaps rather uncreatively, have chosen the latter.
The real reason the carpeting is coming out this weekend is that it is 45 years old. The paint spill just made the decision of when, exactly, the crap was going to be ripped out. Skanky no more!
In a couple of weeks: flooring. Oak laminate. The house will be transformed from 60s time capsule to sedate, ordinary Home of the New Century. More pictures to come...
